The counseling department is here to support you! Any student that wants to request an appointment should stop by the counseling office. You will need to fill out a request form.

For information on enrolling a student please contact our Registrar, Ms. T. Miles, at (301) 863-4001 (Ext. 18127) or tvmiles@smcps.org or stop by the main office and pick up a registration packet.

Former students:

To request a transcript, please complete a Request for Transcript form and email it to GMHSRegistration@smcps.org. Transcripts are processed within 24 to 48 hours.

Current students:

Current students can request a transcript via Naviance, or for a printed copy, see the Guidance Secretary.

Education Verifications:

Education verifications must be sent by fax or email along with a signed release. Please allow 1 - 3 business days to complete.

The High School Program of Studies is designed to assist students in course selection. Courses are designed to challenge all students, fulfill the high school graduation requirements, prepare students for the High School Assessments, and ensure students are prepared for post-secondary programs. Students and their parent(s)/guardian(s) are encouraged to review this Program of Studies and the school registration material carefully with teachers, school counselors, and administrators. It is very important that students select the most challenging and rigorous program to meet their post-secondary and career goals.

Homework/make-up work for students should be requested from the student's Assistant Principal's secretary. The request is for students who have missed 3 or more consecutive days of school (student must be marked lawfully absent from school). 

The mission of the Great Mills High School Counseling Department is to provide all students with a comprehensive developmental school counseling program which gives them the opportunity to gain an understanding of self and others and to participate in educational and occupational exploration in order to reach their full potential as productive members of society.

Regarding Students: 

• Every student will leave Great Mills with the necessary academic, career, and social/emotional skills to continue flourishing.

• School counselors continually analyze data, reflecting, to make necessary upgrades in counseling programs and services. 
• School counselors are school leaders who facilitate a positive educational experience for all students through the use of best practices and evidence-based interventions.
